There are two Wi-Fi networks on campus:
HC – phones, tablets, laptops. Log in with your campus username and password.
HC-Public – gaming consoles, smart TVs, streaming devices, smart speakers.
Consoles and smart devices can't log in with a username/password, so you have to register their MAC address (a unique device ID) before they can join HC-Public. You can register up to 5 devices.
Format: 01-23-45-67-89-AB
Most devices: Check network/system settings, or look for a sticker on the device.
Echo Dot: In the Alexa app, tap Manual Setup → connect your phone to the Amazon-XXX network → go back to the app and scroll down to find the MAC address.
Connect to HC (not HC-Public) with your student login.
Log in with just your username — no "@hastings.edu" (e.g., john.smith).
Enter the MAC address.
Unplug it for 10 minutes (skip for Echo Dot).
Plug it back in and select HC-Public.
Follow any pop-up prompts.
Plugging a laptop, desktop, or smart TV directly into a wall jack? Register its MAC address the same way. (Wi-Fi on HC doesn't need this.)
